Apple Music — the music streaming service from the Cupertino company — does not offer a free, ad-supported plan unlike rival Spotify, but you can avail of a one-month trial in some countries before signing up for the service. However, if you have never subscribed to Apple Music, you can avail of a promotion that has been available to users as part of the Shazam app for years, that gives you access to three months of unlimited access to Apple Music, at no additional cost.

We tested these steps on an iPhone running on iOS 17 and a free 2-month trial that ends on April 14. However, you should be able to access the up to three-month promotion on an older version of Apple’s smartphone operating system.

It’s also worth noting that while Shazam’s web page states that the promotion will expire on March 31, you can still get up to three months for free via an alternative method that requires you to scan a QR code on Apple’s website.

It’s also worth noting that you will be charged a monthly fee of Rs. 99 after the free trial ends, so you can cancel your subscription as soon as you avail of the offer and continue to access Apple Music for the remainder of the trial period.

What is the Chakshu Portal? 

The Chakshu portal is a new initiative by the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) to curb suspected fraud communications, simply put, cyber frauds. The feature is now available on the Sanchar Saathi website. People across the country can now report cyber frauds such as fake customer care helplines, bank accounts, payment wallets, gas connections, impersonation of government officials, etc. With the new Chakshu portal, users can report such cyber frauds through calls, SMS or even WhatsApp.

Step 2: Select the Chakshu option under this tab and then click continue for reporting. 

Step 3: Select the fraud category from the drop-down menu and attach a screenshot of the call. 

Step 4: Enter the mobile number from which you got the suspected fraud communication 

Step 5: Enter the date and time of the fraud call and provide the detailed complaint.

The portal also allows users to report spam or suspected cyber fraud through messages. Here’s how to file a complaint. 

Step 1: Visit the sancharsaathi.gov.in website and navigate to the Citizen Centric Services section by scrolling down.

Step 2: Choose the Chakshu option from this tab and proceed by clicking on Continue for reporting.

Step 3: Select Medium as SMS. Now, select the fraud category from the drop-down menu and attach a screenshot of the message you received. 

Step 4: Choose the type of suspected SMS, whether received with a shortcode (example AX-BCDEFS) or without a shortcode. 

Step 5: Input the mobile number from which you received the suspected fraudulent communication.

Step 6: Specify the date and time of the fraudulent call and provide a detailed complaint.

Step 7: Finally, input your personal information, verify it with OTP, and submit the complaint.

How to Report Suspected Fraud Communication Received through WhatsApp on Chakshu Portal?

The portal also allows you to report any fraudulent messages or calls that you receive on the WhatsApp application. However, it is essential to note that you should also say the same to WhatsApp so that they can take necessary action to detect and prevent such cyber fraud. 

Step 1: From the Chakshu menu, select Medium as WhatsApp. 

Step 2: Select the fraud category from the drop-down menu and attach a screenshot of the message you received. 

Step 3: Choose the type of suspected WhatsApp communication, whether it is a WhatsApp Call or WhatsApp message. 

Step 4: Enter the mobile number linked to the suspected fraudulent communication.

Step 5: Indicate the date and time of the fraudulent call and provide a comprehensive complaint.

Step 6: Lastly, input your personal information, authenticate it with an OTP, and proceed to submit the complaint.

After being made available on other Pixel devices such as smartphones, tablets and nest devices, Google has finally brought Google Assistant Quick Phrases feature to its Pixel Buds Pro. Launched more than a year ago, the Pixel Buds Pro was already quite smart thanks to several built-in Google features, like Translate and more. Quick Phrases, which is another Google Assistant feature, now makes it easier to use your phone without the need to say “Hey Google” before your voice command.

What are Quick Phrases?

Quick Phrases are an easier way to use voice commands. Users can simply say the command, instead of using the wake-up phrase (or hotword) like “Hey Google” before speaking out the command/task for Google Assistant. The feature has been available on Google’s Pixel devices since the Pixel 6 series and has only been made available on the Pixel Buds Pro (officially) today.

While the feature sounds exciting, it is mainly used to complete a task rather than starting it. On Pixel devices, users can simply say “accept” or “decline” to deal with an incoming call. Alarms can be snoozed as well by just saying the word “snooze”. A timer can be stopped by simply saying the word “stop”.

What’s new?

This may sound very convenient and to an extent, they truly are, but it’s still very limited in terms of functionality versus the regular “Hey Google” voice commands which have fewer limitations and are far more in number and versatility. For now, Pixel devices only support a handful of commands which include, answering, declining, and silencing calls, and the ability to snooze and stop alarms and timers. The new Pixel Buds Pro update lets you use the first three quick phrases to control calls without summoning the Google Assistant first.

How do I enable it?

Enabling Quick Phrases on your Pixel Buds Pro is quite easy. Open the Settings app and type out “Quick Phrases”. Once in the section, simply toggle ON the settings to turn on each quick phrase scenario. You can also check out which devices support which quick phrase scenario in the same section.

There are a couple of downsides to activating it. There’s a good chance that an unknown incoming call may be accepted by the phone if you happen to be conversing with someone and happen to use any of the quick phrases in a sentence. There’s also a chance that someone else’s voice (standing near you) may trigger the same. And lastly, if the Google assistant detects a word that sounds very similar to any of the above three quick phrases, then it’ll be triggered. Also users will need to select only one language in Google Assistant Settings and supported languages only include English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, and Spanish for now.

WhatsApp introduced View Once messages for text, photos, and videos back in 2021. Now, the Meta-owned instant messaging platform is expanding this feature to voice messages. With this feature, users will be able to set voice messages to disappear after their recipient listens to them. Like the View Once photos and videos, View Once voice messages will be marked with the “one-time” icon and can only be played once. View Once voice messages will reach global users over the coming days.

Metaon Thursday (December 7) announced the addition of View Once voice messages via a blog post. The feature lets users send a voice message that will disappear once the recipient listens to it. This functionality can be ideal for sharing sensitive information, planning surprises, and sending confidential information like credit card details, and streaming app credentials without concerns about them being recorded or shared. The View Once voice messages will be marked with the “one-time” icon and can only be played once.

WhatsApp says View Once is an example of the company’s continued privacy innovation. Like the self-destructing photos and videos, WhatsApp’s disappearing voice messages are claimed to be protected with end-to-end encryption by default. The View Once voice messages are rolling out globally over the coming days.

How to send a View Once voice message on WhatsApp

• Open a chat window on WhatsApp.
• Tap and hold on the microphone icon in the bottom-right corner of the chatbox.
• Swipe up to lock the recording Tap on and hold the record.
• Tap the stylised View Once icon.
• Tap Send once you’ve finished recording your message.

After the recipient hears the voice clip, the voice message will disappear from the chat. It will be replaced with text that reads “opened”. The View Once messages will vanish from the chat if the recipient does not open them within 14 days after they were sent. Also, users can not forward, save, star, or share voice messages that were sent or received with view once media is enabled.

New health-tracking features can be accessed via the Samsung Health Monitor app in the Galaxy Watch 6 lineup and it will assist the users in performing ECG tests from the comfort of their homes and enable regular health checkups. The BP and ECG tracking features are confirmed to be available in Galaxy Watch 4 and Watch 5 series as well.

Samsung is activating blood pressure monitoring and ECG features on the Galaxy Watch 6 series in India after receiving regulatory clearances and certifications from India’s Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation, according to an official press release. The health tracking features can be accessed via the bundled Samsung Health Monitor app on the wearables and the updates will reach devices through an OTA (over-the-air) rollout. Both features are promised to be made available on the Galaxy Watch 4 and Galaxy Watch 5.

Users can measure the rhythm of their heartbeat through the ECG tracking feature by wearing the Galaxy Watch 6, Galaxy Watch 5, and Galaxy Watch 4 models firmly on their wrists. Sensors placed on the skin will detect the electrical signals produced by the heart each time it beats and the data will be recorded in a graph. With the Samsung Health Monitor ECG app, users can create, record, save, and share ECG data with health professionals.

Once you’ve set up the Samsung Health Monitor app on your Galaxy Watch and Galaxy smartphone you can take an ECG whenever and wherever you want. You have to calibrate the wearable based on the instructions on the app and slide it up your wrist for a good fit to review the blood pressure measurements.

The Meta head mentioned on his post that the feature has been rolling out for all users. To ensure that you attach an HD image, make sure to click on the HD icon shown in a chat thread.

The feature was first tested in June this year on the beta channel. It is also to be noted that HD images will consume more data and storage, as compared to non-HD images.

All images on WhatsApp will be send in standard quality by default. The app compresses the image, to reduce the file size. However, if you wish to opt for an HD image, you need to manually tap on the HD icon. For the receiver, the HD icon will be indicated at the bottom left of the image.
