Realme Pad 2 will be launched in India in a Wi-Fi only variant soon. The company confirmed the launch date and revealed a few key specifications of the upcoming model. Notably, the Realme Pad 2 with LTE support was unveiled in the country in July 2023. Both LTE and Wi-Fi variants are likely to have identical features apart from the titular connectivity element. Realme is also gearing up to introduce a new lineup of smartphones in India, namely the Realme P1 5G series, alongside the tablet.

In a press note, Realme confirmed that the Pad 2 Wi-Fi variant will be launched in India on April 15 at 12pm IST alongside the Realme P1 5G lineup. It will be available for purchase via Flipkart and the Realme India website. A landing page for the tablet has revealed the design which appears to be the same as the LTE version. The Wi-Fi variant is teased to launch in the similar Inspiration Green and Imagination Grey colourways. 

The company also confirmed that the Realme Pad 2 Wi-Fi variant will be equipped with an 11.5-inch 2K (2,000 x 1,200 pixels) display with up to 120Hz refresh rate, 450 nits of peak brightness level, blue light protection and 85.2 percent screen-to-body ratio. It is confirmed to get an 8,360mAh battery with support for 33W wired SuperVOOC charging.

Although the company has not yet revealed the price of the Realme Pad 2 Wi-Fi variant, it is likely to be priced lower than the LTE version, which launched in India at Rs. 19,999 for the 6GB + 128GB option, while the 8GB + 256GB variant was listed at Rs. 22,999.

The Realme Pad 2 LTE variant comes with a MediaTek Helio G99 SoC paired with up to 8GB of RAM and 256GB of onboard storage. It ships with Android 13-based Realme UI 4.0. The tablet supports features like multi-screen collaboration, screen mirroring, dual windows, spilt screen, and a smart sidebar. It also carries an 8-megapixel AI-backed rear camera sensor.

Motorola Edge 50 Ultra is expected to go official alongside the Edge Fusion and Edge 50 Pro at Motorola’s global launch event on April 16. Ahead of the launch, the handset has appeared on the Geekbench benchmarking site with impressive scores. The listing hints at some of the hardware features of the handset. The Motorola Edge 50 Ultra is listed with Qualcomm’s recently unveiled Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 SoC, which is paired with 12GB of RAM.

The purported Geekbench listing of the Motorola Edge 50 Ultra with 12GB of RAM shows that the phone runs on Android 14. In terms of benchmark performance, the smartphone has received a single-core CPU score of 1,947 and a multi-core score of 5,149. This could be early performance results obtained from the prototype of the handset. We will have to wait for the handset’s official debut to know the accurate benchmark performance results.

Regarding the SoC, the listing suggests a high-performance core with a maximum clock speed of 3.01GHz, four cores capped at 2.80GHz and three cores capped at 2.02GHz. These CPU speeds are associated with the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 SoC.

Motorola will unveil its entire Edge 50 series for global markets on April 16. The series is expected to include at least three models —Motorola Edge 50 Pro, Motorola Edge 50 Fusion, and Motorola Edge 50 Ultra. The former launched in India earlier this month with a starting price tag of Rs. 31,999 for the 8GB RAM + 256GB storage variant bundled with a 68W charger.

The Motorola Edge 50 Ultra is expected to debut with the Motorola Edge+ 2024 or Edge Ultra 2024 moniker in the US. It is said to feature a triple rear camera setup comprising a 50-megapixel primary sensor. The phone could get a 6.7-inch OLED display with 165Hz refresh rate.

Gadgets 360 got brief access to this AI-enabled feature on Wednesday, after which it vanished, prompting that it may be available for a limited time. The screenshots below show that the Meta AI chat opens with a verified badge and says “#with Llama#”. The chat pop-up says, “Ask Meta AI anything,” and has a number of suggestive prompts on the screen. The prompts are stacked in a carousel format and can be swiped to show more suggestions. As visible in the screenshot, prompts like “imagine a car race on Mars”, “imagine a holographic bus”, “Healthy life goals”, and more can be given. Notably, the Meta AI icon is placed in the top right corner along with the Camera and New Chat options. The icon reminds me a lot of Microsoft’s Cortana assistant. 

The Meta AI feature is available in limited countries and only supports English. When starting a chat conversation with Meta AI, the platform notifies, “Messages from Meta AI and other characters are generated by artificial intelligence (AI), using a service from Meta, in response to the prompts you send to the AI.” The chat platform also clarifies that Meta AI can only read and reply to chats mentioning @Meta AI, which means the tool doesn’t have access to other chats. The prompt adds, “As always, your personal messages and calls remain end-to-end encrypted, meaning not even WhatsApp or Meta can see or listen to them.”

How to start a chat with AI from Meta on WhatsApp

Firstly, the Meta AI feature within WhatsApp can answer questions, offer recommendations, and can also talk about interests. To start a chat:

• Tap the circular icon on the top right of the main chat list on your WhatsApp
• Read and accept the terms (if prompted)
• Select a suggested prompt from the screen or type your own
• Tap the send button, and you’ve initiated the conversation

Interestingly, WhatsApp also takes feedback from users on Meta AI. Users can tap and hold the AI-generated responses and tap on ‘Good response’ or ‘Bad response’. Users can also type a reason and submit it.

Meta on the WhatsApp FAQ page mentions that “some messages generated by AIs might not be accurate or appropriate.”

Meta recently announced Llama 2, the next generation of its large language model for generative AI assistants, and it is expected to release Llama 3 in the coming weeks.

Vivo T3x 5G is confirmed to launch in India on April 17. The company has revealed the design and price range of the upcoming model previously. Now, the chipset details of the handset and the colour options have also been confirmed. Other specifications of the phone have leaked online earlier. The phone is said to succeed the Vivo T2x 5G, which was unveiled in April 2023 with a MediaTek Dimensity 6020 SoC and a 5,000mAh battery.

The Flipkart microsite of the Vivo T3x 5G confirms that the phone will be powered by Qualcomm’s 4nm octa-core Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 SoC. The page also reveals that the phone will be available in Celestial Green and Crimson Red colour options.  

Recently, Vivo confirmed that the new phone will be priced under Rs. 15,000 in India. The Vivo T3x 5G will be equipped with a dual rear camera unit placed within a large circular module. The battery details of the handset will be revealed on April 15.

A recent leak suggested that the Vivo T3x 5G will be available in 4GB, 6GB, and 8GB RAM variants alongside 128GB of onboard storage. The handset is said to feature a 6.72-inch full-HD+ display with 120Hz refresh rate. 

The Vivo T3x 5G has been tipped to sport a 50-megapixel primary rear sensor alongside a 2-megapixel depth shooter, and an 8-megapixel selfie camera. It is said to pack a 6,000mAh battery with support for 44W wired flash charging. The phone could offer an IP64 rating for dust and splash resistance and a side-mounted fingerprint sensor. It is said to measure 7.99mm in thickness and weigh 199g.

Fairphone Fairbuds have been launched as the company’s latest true wireless stereo (TWS) earphones. The earbuds come with 11mm titanium-coated drivers and offer an active noise cancellation (ANC) feature. They provide Bluetooth multipoint connectivity, an IP54-rated build, and are claimed to deliver up to 26 hours of battery life with the case. However, these earphones are very unique. Fairphone focuses on offering easy repairability with their products. Hence, the Fairbuds earphones allow users to replace the batteries and even order single earbuds.

The Fairphone Fairbuds are priced at EUR 149 (roughly Rs. 13,000) and are currently available for purchase in European markets in Black and White colourways.

Fairphone is providing three years warranty for the earbuds and also offering a 14-day trial period with a full refund. However, details about the global availability is yet to be announced.

The new Fairphone Fairbuds come with 11mm titanium-coated drivers and offer ANC along with Environmental Noise Canceling (ENC). The earphones feature a six-microphone array to eliminate background noise. They are compatible with the Google Assistant and Apple Siri smart assistants.

The Fairbuds have capacitive touch-enabled controls to answer or reject calls, and control the volume or skip tracks. They can be paired with both Android and iOS devices via the Equalizer app. The earbuds allow you to connect to two devices simultaneously through dual-point connectivity. They offer Bluetooth 5.3 connectivity with support for A2DP V1.2, AVRCP V1.5, HFP V1.8, and HSP V1.2 profiles. The earbuds are IP54-rated for sweat and water resistance.

Coming to battery life, the Fairbuds have a 45mAh battery in each earbud and the charging case packs a 500mAh cell. They claim to offer up to five hours of battery life on the earbud with ANC and a total of 26 hours of battery life with the case.

Now coming to the unique part about the Fairphone Fairbuds, users can replace the batteries on both the earbuds and the case. Further, the earbuds themselves are also replaceable. It would let users order a replacement for a single earbud if they lose one. The earbud measure 28.7×24.6x21mm and the case measures 65x65x27mm. In terms of weight, the earbuds weigh 78 grams including the case with each earbud weighing 5 grams.

Moto G64 5G is confirmed to go official in India on April 16. Ahead of the scheduled launch, Motorola has listed the handset on its official website revealing all its specifications. The Moto G64 5G is confirmed to be available in three colour options and two RAM and storage configurations. It is listed with a MediaTek Dimensity 7025 SoC, coupled with up to 12GB of RAM and up to 256GB storage. The Moto G64 5G carries a 6,000mAh battery with support for 30W fast charging support.

Through a listing on its India website, Motorola has disclosed the full specifications of the Moto G64 5G. It is shown in Ice Lilac, Mint Green, and Pearl Blue colour options and 8GB + 128GB and 12GB + 256GB storage options. It is confirmed to be powered by an octa-core MediaTek Dimensity 7025 SoC.

The Moto G64 5G features Android 14-based My UX. It is confirmed to receive Android 15  and three years of security updates. It features a 6.5-inch full-HD+ display with 120Hz refresh rate. It has a dual rear camera setup, comprising a 50-megapixel primary rear sensor with optical image stabilisation (OIS) support alongside an 8-megapixel macro shooter. The front camera is a 16-megapixel sensor.

As per the listing, the Moto G64 5G has a side-mounted fingerprint sensor and supports face unlock feature. Connectivity options available on the phone include FM radio, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, A-GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, Beidu, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and a USB Type-C port. It comes in an IP52-rated water-repellent build and features dual stereo speakers enhanced by Dolby Atmos technology. Sensors onboard include an accelerometer, ambient light, gyroscope, SAR sensor, and sensor hub.

Motorola has packed a 6,000mAh battery on the Moto G64 5G with support for 30W TurboPower fast charging. It measures 161.56×73.82×8.89mm and weighs 192 grams.

Samsung Galaxy S20 series is confirmed to receive security updates for a few more months. During its February 2020 launch, the models were promised to get three major Android OS upgrades and four years of security updates. The company has now confirmed that the phones will continue to receive quarterly security updates. Notably, the phones will not be getting any additional OS updates. They launched with Android 10-based One UI 2.1 and the last upgrade it received was Android 13-based One UI 5.1.

Under the Scope section on the company’s Mobile Security website, Samsung has confirmed that “select devices launched in 2019 or later” will get a minimum of four years of firmware security updates, while some newer models will receive up to five years of security updates. The South Korean tech giant rolls out security updates in three intervals — monthly, quarterly and biannually. More recent devices are eligible for more regular updates. The Galaxy S20 lineup has been listed among the handsets that will receive these updates, as spotted by SamMobile. 

This confirms that the base Samsung Galaxy S20 alongside the Galaxy S20+ and Galaxy S20 Ultra will receive a few more quarterly security updates. However, the company did not confirm when this support would be discontinued.

The Galaxy S20 FE model was unveiled in October 2020, months after the flagship series and was also promised to receive four years of security updates. The handset continues to receive monthly OTA updates. After October this year, it may start getting quarterly security updates instead of monthly ones, based on the information on Samsung’s website.

The Galaxy S20 series comes with quad-HD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X displays with up to 120Hz refresh rate. The base model has a triple rear camera unit with a 64-megapixel telephoto sensor and two 12-megapixel sensors paired with wide and ultra-wide lenses, respectively. The other two models pack quad rear camera systems with an additional depth sensor. The Galaxy S20+ also has a 64-megapixel telephoto shooter, while the top-of-the-line Ultra model includes a 48-megapixel telephoto camera alongside a 108-megapixel sensor paired with a wide-angle lens.

Xiaomi Mix Fold 4, the purported next generation foldable phone from the Chinese smartphone brand, is expected to be unveiled soon as the successor to last year’s Mix Fold 3. Ahead of an official confirmation, specifications of the upcoming book-style foldable have leaked online. The Xiaomi Mix Fold 4 is tipped to run on the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip. It is said to come with a quad-camera system with a 50-megapixel Sony IMX800 sensor. The Xiaomi Mix Fold 4 is expected to remain a China-exclusive handset.

According to a report by Android Headlines, the Xiaomi Mix Fold 4 was spotted with model number “24072PX77C” and the codename “goku’ in a database. It reportedly has “N18” as the internal model number. The handset is said to be powered by Qualcomm’s flagship Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset.

The Xiaomi Mix Fold 4 is expected to feature a quad-camera system that is similar to the Mix Fold 3. The camera setup could be headlined by a 1/1.55-inch 50-megapixel Omnivision “Light Hunter 800” sensor as the primary sensor. The Chinese smartphone maker used the same camera in the Redmi K70 Pro. The rumoured Xiaomi Mix Flip is also believed to be equipped with the same OmniVision sensor.

The company could use the 1/2.8-inch 60-megapixel OmniVision OV60A sensor and 13-megapixel OV13B sensor with 1/3-inch sensor size on the Mix Fold 4 with 2x optical zoom. For comparison, last year’s Mix Fold 3 had a 3.2x telephoto camera. The upcoming model could also get a 1/3.94-inch 10-megapixel S5K3K1 sensor from Samsung with support for 5x optical zoom.

The Xiaomi Mix Fold 4 is tipped to pack a 16-megapixel OV16F selfie camera on the inner and cover screen. It is said to offer improved screen resolution over its predecessor. Further, the report claims that the new foldable phone will be limited to the Chinese market. The purported Mix Flip, in contrast, is anticipated to be launched in China and global markets excluding India and Japan.

The smartphone maker is tipped to unveil the Xiaomi Mix Fold 4 sometime in August and this year’s launch window is in line with previous models launched by the company — the Xiaomi Mix Fold 3 debuted in August 2023. The current generation book-style foldable runs on the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip and features four Leica-branded rear cameras.

Leica Leitz Phone 3 was launched on Thursday as the successor to the Leica Leitz Phone 2, which was unveiled in November 2022. The latest handset is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC but retains other key features of the preceding phone which was equipped with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset, a 47.2-megapixel primary rear camera and a 5,000mAh battery. The design of the Leitz Phone 3 is said to be inspired by the look of Leica cameras and the textured finish is claimed to offer users a better grip.

The Leica Leitz Phone 3 is offered in a single black colourway. The price of the handset has not yet been revealed but it will be available for purchase exclusively in Japan from April 19, the company said in a press statement. As per the promotional images on the Leica website, the advertised lens cap can be bought with an external phone cover which is sold as part of a bundle or as additional accessories.

The Leica Leitz Phone 3 sports a 6.6-inch WUXGA+ (2,730 x 1,260 pixels) Pro IGZO OLED display. The phone is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC paired with 12GB of RAM and 512GB of onboard storage. The storage can be expanded to up to 1TB via a microSDXC card. The phone runs on Android 14 with a custom user interface on top.

For optics, the Leica Leitz Phone 3 features a dual rear camera unit which includes a 47.2-megapixel 1-inch CMOS sensor with 6x digital zoom and a wide-angle lens alongside a 1.9-megapixel depth sensor. The front camera, on the other hand, is equipped with a 12.6-megapixel sensor with 8x digital zoom. The camera system is accompanied by the Leitz Looks software feature which is claimed to help the Leica phone simulate the looks of popular Leica M-Lenses like the Noctilux-M 1:1.2/50, Summilux-M 1:1.4/28 and Summilux-M 1:1.4/35.

Like the preceding model, the Leica Leitz Phone 3 also packs a 5,000mAh battery that can be charged via a USB Type-C port. The phone also supports Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.3, Mobile Pay and NFC connectivity. It has a 3.5mm audio jack and an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance. For security, it is equipped with an in-display fingerprint sensor. The handset measures 77mm x 161mm x 9.3mm in size and weighs 209g.

Nokia 6310 (2024), Nokia 5310 (2024), and Nokia 230 (2024) have been launched as the latest feature phones by HMD. The new phones come as a refresh to old classic Nokia phones and run on the S30+ operating system with the bar form factor. They have a 2.8-inch QVGA display and are equipped with the Unisoc 6531F SoCs. The Nokia 6310, Nokia 5310, and Nokia 230 wireless FM streaming support and has an MP3 player. The new feature phones are backed by a 1,450mAh battery that is said to deliver up to 27 days of standby time with a single charge.

HMD has not announced the pricing and availability details of the Nokia 6310 (2024), Nokia 5310 (2024), and Nokia 230 (2024). All three phones are currently listed on its website. The Nokia 230 and Nokia 5310 are listed in Black and White colour options, whereas the Nokia 6310 is offered in Black and Red colours.

The refreshed Nokia 6310, Nokia 5310, and Nokia 230 come with dual-SIM support and run on the Series 30+ operating system. The new feature phones sport a 2.8-inch QVGA display and are powered by a Unisoc 6531F SoC alongside 8MB RAM and 16MB internal storage. The inbuilt storage can be expanded up to 32GB via a dedicated microSD card slot.

Nokia 6310, Nokia 5310 and Nokia 230 sport FM radio with wired and wireless modes and an MP3 player. For connectivity, the phones get Bluetooth, 3.5mm headphone jack, and USB Type-C port. There is also a 0.3-megapixel camera sensor on the rear of the Nokia 6310 and Nokia 5310. The Nokia 230, in contrast, comes with a 2-megapixel rear camera alongside LED flash and a 2-megapixel front camera with LED flash.

Nokia has packed a 1,450mAh battery on all three phones that is claimed to deliver up to 27 days of standby time. All three models support 2G connectivity.
